The fountain re-creation from Stewart Iron Works just fits right in at the Babylon Historical & Preservation Society as the building was decorated for Christmas this week.

It’s funny how it didn’t take long after it was first installed before it seemed like it had always been there.

Here’s the news story online at our local page on Patch.com where this picture is from :

Architectural Metal Preservation!

Preserving and Maintaining Architectural Metal!

Stewart Iron Works celebrates our 150th year in business this year!  Much of our early work is still proudly gracing the original properties 100+ years after installation.  Much of our early work is sold through Ebay, antique stores and reclamation construction companies.  We receive many inquiries as to restoring these newly acquired historical gems.

Our Federal Government provides "Standards for Rehabilitation and Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings" which contains invaluable information.  The link below contains a plethora of information from Preserving, Protecting and Maintaining, Repairing to Replacing.

We hope this can be of service to those who love architectural metals as much as we do!

Drive Gates Bring Peace of Mind!

Drive Gates = Security!

There is an increasing demand for privacy and security among homeowners.  Today's customer has many options besides the design of the gate to insure peace of mind.  State of the art technology allows for the customer to incorporate facial recognition, internet-connected digital cameras, remote iPad controls and other security oriented features.

Grand and elaborate gates of yesteryear are often bypassed for less extravagant designs, so as not to draw attention to the residence.  Security technology is less expensive and less intrusive with each new generation, which allows gate design to be more modest in appearance, yet heavily fortified.  Security experts often recommend keeping the design simple and modest, so as to be overlooked.

Often times, visual security can play a role as well.  Besides the drive gate, landscape architects can design a plan with trees and landscaping, creating visual barriers, which provide the home owner with an added layer of security.  Visual barriers are limiting compared to the security a Stewart fence can provide.

Call us today if security and peace of mind is high on your priority list!

Customer Testimonials are "Ringing" Endorsements!

Customer testimonials are the highest form of a compliment that a company can receive regarding the quality and the reputation of their product! On January 1st, Stewart Iron Works received this email from a home owner:

"Hello, my name is Liz, and I live in the farming country of New Berlin, Illinois. We bought our house a few years ago, and I am in the process of researching its history. I believe the house was built in or about 1915.

Its art and crafts architecture was originally a family farm house, complete with separate farm hand quarters. Along the front of the house is this beautiful iron fence that has managed to survive for about 100 years in open farm country. So, I was looking more closely, and I noticed the Stewart Iron Works emblem on the front gate. This fence is the first thing I noticed about our home and it caught my attention. It really makes our home unique!

I always appreciate the value of quality craftsmanship, which is what draws my husband and me into living in historic homes. The phrase, "They just don't make 'em like they used to" - rings true. I just thought your company might find it interesting to hear about our Stewart fence and the time it has endured. There are pictures attached."

Thank you Liz for your "ringing" endorsement! Stewart Iron Works has proudly attached our "shield" to our fences and gates since 1862! Our uncompromising quality and crafgtsmanship goes into each fence, gate and railing to this very day and will continue for generations to come!
